How Molino 5 Prepares for Calamities?
I interviewed Mr. Samuel Sibayan our Brgy. Captain, and I asked him about the DRRM, he said that in order to prepare for a disaster, the most important thing to remember is to know what kind of calamity are we preparing for. With this, we will able to know what to do when the actual calamity attacks. May it be a typhoon, an earthquake, etc.
He also said that our barangay is not mainly focused on floods, since we are not affected by it, we only prepare for earthquakes and fires. According to him, in his long stay in Molino 5, he has never experienced things like floods or strong fires. The only thing that he can really say that somehow affected the barangay is the typhoon that caused trees to fall apart in the streets, but gladly there were no people affected by this.
Our barangay, Molino 5 according to our Brgy. Captain and my own experience has never experienced floods since it is kind of in a high area. He mentioned that we don't experience floods also because we don't have informal settlers in our creeks and such. One vulnerability of our area is the trees that grow too much, since wires can be hit and be the cause of fires, but gladly, they are able to maintain and trees are trimmed regularly. Trash are also collected regularly by each subdivision.
